Folic acid(Folate) is an essential nutrient for the human body to function, a deficiency of which can lead to hair loss and stunted growth!
It is a water soluble B vitamin that helps to speed up hair growth process.
Regular consumption can boost healthy cell generation and is great in treating alopecia. Foods like flour, cereals, rice, broccoli, citrus fruits and spinach are examples of foods that contain Folic acid. They can be taken as supplements together with biotin to boost hair growth and stop baldness even in men!
Flour (gram flour a.k.a besan)
Flour is rich in carbohydrates, fibre and protein, plus it’s gluten free. It also contains folate, riboflavin, Iron and beta-carotene. It helps in production of red blood cells and helps them carry blood to all parts of the body. It cleanses hair(as a paste mix with water), fights dandruff and helps hair growth. Flour can be used to make yummy foods to add to your diet like pies, cakes, bread etc. Which foods do you consume contains flour?
Fig
Fig contains nutrients like Vitamin A,C and E and manganese which help in maintenance of a healthy hair. They stimulate blood circulation in the scalp which promotes hair growth. It also contains fibre, calcium, iron and potassium which aid in hair growth. They are a great add to your diet as they have other great health benefits too!
Flaxseed
High in Omega 3 fatty acids, flaxseed help prevent dry scalp which could lead to dandruff, nourishes your hair and prevents breakage. The nutrients it contains nourish the follicles and hair shafts, making them stronger and reducing damage. They are rich in protein, calcium, zinc, magnesium, and iron. You can eat them or massage the heated oil unto your scalp.
Fish
Fish contains omega 3 fatty acids which help promote healthy scalp, prevent dandruff and dull hair. Adding fishes like salmon, sardines, mackerel to your diet is very beneficial. Fish oil can also be taken as supplements. They are one of the best sources of protein, they also contain Vitamin b-12 and Iron which promotes healthy growth.
Fruits
Fruits come in varieties from seeds, to seedless, etc Examples are oranges, tangerines, apples, pineapples, to mention a few. Different fruits contain antioxidants and other vitamins which are essential for healthy hair and promote faster growth! One of the fruits we have learned about today is fig.
